A colleague and I co-facilitated the strategic planning process for two merging universities as part of a unification initiative. We recruited participants from across the two entities, drafted the plan, based on the process, worked with the leadership of the new university to refine and edit, designed the look and finalized what was a critical document required for the new university’s accreditation. The chancellors considered the process and document “Great. Excellent,” and said we did “a wonderful job.”

This was an internal marketing document to support an organization development team in positioning and selling its services to various unit and facility leaders. Jackie interviewed the team, developed the declarative positioning statement and copy and coached the team members in thinking from the point of view of their target audience and having effective sales conversations with leaders who might be wary of “corporate types” coming to their facilities and “telling them what to do.” The team doubled their results in five months with the new approach and literature, and increased their engagements seven-fold within a year.
